At CAI, we are passionate about to fostering Belonging and Impact where everyone knows they are valued for who they are with the potential to make a lasting difference. At the core of our Belonging and Impact, are six employee resource groups (ERG) which launched in the summer of 2020. Diversity Days is the annual celebration of that commitment we made!

What are Diversity Days?

Every summer, associates participate in a vibrant array of events—inspiring speakers, interactive workshops, and well-being activities—designed to educate and spark conversations around diversity. The goal is to shine a light on the different backgrounds, perspectives, and cultures that make up CAI.

So how did we celebrate this year? Let’s jump into our events!

Multi-generational diversity keynote

Karen McCullough's "It’s Not Personal—It's Generational" keynote kicked off our Diversity Days, where she tackled generational biases and took us on a journey on how each generation has shaped history and impacted the workplace. The big takeaway was that we have way more in common than we ever imagined! Karen's message was all about bringing your "whole self" to work and at CAI, we want everyone—from Baby Boomers to Gen Z—to collaborate and share their unique insights. After all, these diverse perspectives are what keep us fresh, innovative, and ready to take on anything.

Diversity-centered trivia

Our trivia showdown was a blast, giving employees a chance to flex their brain muscles and embrace a little friendly competition. We dove into historical and cultural diversity, making it a fun learning experience where everyone walked away with some new nuggets of knowledge. We love it when our team finds exciting ways to put on their thinking caps!

But what’s trivia without some prizes? Our top trivia champs snagged some wonderful goodies, all from minority-owned businesses.

Mental wellness with plant terrariums

We believe in nurturing well-being and sparking creativity, so we had a virtual plant party that offered the perfect blend of craftiness and relaxation.

Our friends at Party’n With Plants led a terrarium-building event that gave employees a rejuvenating break and a chance to use their green thumbs. We know that when our team feels balanced, they’re happier and more engaged, so we're all about creating a space where wellness is front and center. When you’re feeling your best, everything else falls into place!

Honoring the history of Juneteenth

To further encourage a culture of learning, we ventured on a captivating tour to understand the history of Juneteenth, provided by Unexpected Virtual Tours. We explored stories of pivotal figures, traditions, and historical sites that played a big role in emancipation. It helped our team appreciate the rich tapestry of our past and why it's crucial in shaping our inclusive and informed workplace today. It was a trip through history that truly brought the past to life and underscored the importance of awareness and empathy in our diverse community.

Connection through conversation

To wrap up the week, we gathered for a traditional event called Courageous Conversations.

This CAI classic offers our employees a judgment-free, safe space to candidly discuss different topics, and this time we focused on navigating life’s many seasons and challenges. Our employees shared their experiences ranging from graduating college and exploring parenthood, to adjusting to life in new countries. This time spent together is important because it helps build strong connections between each other, reinforcing the sense of community and camaraderie that makes CAI such a special place to work
